Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn, is one of the most famous and iconic temples on the west bank of Chao Phraya River. It is best known for its stunning architectural design, particularly its central spire (prang), which is decorated with colorful porcelain and seashells. Although the temple has existed since at least the 17th century, its distinctive spire was built in the early 19th century during the reigns of Rama II and Ram III.
Wat Pho is a first class royal temple which King Rama I the Great ordered to be built for monks to study Dharma. It’s famed for its giant reclining Buddha that is 46 meters long and 15 meters high, covered in gold leaf. During the reign of King Rama III, the King graciously renovated Wat Pho and brought academic texts in different fields to be inscribed around the temple to disseminate knowledge to the people. So, it’s considered as the first public university in Thailand. Wat Pho is literally well known as the center for traditional massage.
